DiCit station documentation

by Thomas Krichel.

A station is just any node in the Dicit network. It is available via public rsync. If there is great need we can add http or ftp. But really the idea is that rsync sholud be using.

Structure of a station

A station is fully specified using a single metadata file. The file can be stored on this site. It could also be stored locally. However in this case nobody may ever find it. which case the storage URL ouu be mentioned as a friend of a station that is registered on this site. The format for this metadata. All data available from the station must by available via rsync.
A station carries one required source of data, and two optional sources.
The required source contains metadata. A metadata source carries a directory structure whe At this time, the metadata can only be of the AMF metadata format.
A station may also contain a store for documents. These are thought to be the full-text manifestations of the item described in the metadata.
A station may also contain a store for user-supplied contents that is thought to augment the metadata and the to be the full-text manifestations of the item described in the metadata. A formal RelaxNG specification of such formats will be made available on this site later. Other metadata formats can be added later.
